This week’s theme for #52weeksofhome is “The Year of…” and we are planning for this to be the year of paint prep! You can see how the different sides of the house are painted with different shades of “white.” I have a vision for how I want the house to be painted, but before we can get to that, we have to repair wood details here and there and have some of the brick repointed. I already know what colors I’m painting the house (well, approximately) - but I’d love to know, what color would you paint her? #52weeksofhomeweek2

The Powder Room Moodboard: I shared this in stories but realized I never shared it here. We started laying the tile yesterday (you can see some of the process in stories). Next up is the beadboard, which will go on all walls and ceiling, and stripping the round window, which I hope to leave unpainted. The antique marble corner sink was a Facebook Marketplace find before we closed on the house, and then we just happened to find an old round sink basin that fit the top perfectly in the attic here at Danascara. Meant to be! All other sources are tagged and will be linked in stories. PS: laying mosaic tile is kind of fun - it’s like a puzzle! Let me know if you like it, too.

I’ve followed along with @amyleigh_1902victorian #52weeksofhome for a long time, so I decided to try it out this year. I love that this challenge helps you appreciate details of your home you may not take the time to notice every day. This week’s theme is “Front Entry/Welcome.” I love our entry - I love the gently arched outer doors, the natural wood inner doors, the tongue and groove on walls and ceiling in the vestibule between the doors, the worn stone slab in front of the doors, and the raised panel wainscoting following the arch outside. I can’t wait to paint the doors and molding in the front - something we hope to get to this summer. I also need to figure out how to remove ancient stains on the hex tile inside. She is a little rough around the edges, but she’s definitely a diamond in the rough. 💎 #52weeksofhome

Happy New Year, two days in! I don’t say it enough, how thankful I am, for you all following along, cheering us on, and being such a positive place to share. All the kind comments, lovely private conversations, great advice when I’m learning a new skill, and different perspectives add so much to our lives and help us do a better job by our home! And seeing how this community cares for their homes and families is constantly inspiring - thank you all for being so generous in sharing your lives. Our 2021 definitely went out with a fizzle (thanks Covid) but we can’t wait to get back up and going in 2022. Happy New Year! 🖤🤍🤎photo by @smp_click
