When I saw Pilar Guzman and Chris Mitchell’s home in Architectural Digest a few months ago, I was blown away. It’s rare that I love an entire home as much as I do this one. The mix of traditional architectural details with modern lighting and furniture in a neutral palette is so dramatic but reads as so comfortable because of the textures of leather, wood, and fluffy rugs used throughout. I don’t know if I could ever actually live with the level of minimalism they have in most of the house, but I would copy Every.Detail. of their kitchen. The gorgeous raw wood cabinets with big, deep inset drawers, the wall of windows above the counter, the abundance of open storage behind glass doors, the classic white subway tile, the honed marble counter tops — it’s the stuff of dreams. And that bathroom? And that pool? Every detail implies subtle luxury – perfectly executed with quality materials in a minimal style. Just gorgeous!
