
My first book of the new year was also my first David Sedaris novel, and I loved it. Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim was a quick, upbeat read, chronicling various encounters and events within the Sedaris family. Sedaris’ observations of the way his family interacts together and with others are hilarious, because he picks up on the passive aggressive comments and subtle camaraderie in the mundane episodes of family life. He’s the type of person who could make a brochure from AARP sound amusing; he’s just a great storyteller. I can’t wait to read more of his books this winter. Here are some little excerpts I enjoyed:
