Book Love: Tuesdays with Morrie

I just finished Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.  I grabbed it at a huge estate sale a few weeks ago because I had heard the title before, but I knew nothing else about it.  Turns out, it is a book about a man who is dying of a horrible disease called ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).  But please don’t let that turn you off to it.  The book is so beautiful and inspiring and moving.   It does chronicle a man named Morrie Schwartz in the last days of his life, and while it is about the acceptance and inevitability of death and grief, it is almost more about living and getting the most out of life.  I fell in love with the title character and I cried a lot, but I also found myself underlining words on every other page, because all of his advice is so wise! I am going to share some of my favorite passages in two separate posts this week (there are a lot!):
